Patch Notes - 2023 December 16

Post by Kandarin »

Game Mechanics
  • Elementalists with Water Adept and characters under the effects of a Water Breathing Potion can now swim under even more bridges without spending AP.
  • The infusion drop-down now only goes up to 10 (was 30) to allow infusions to have a proportional impact on ley line taps.
  • Many items can now be used while over-encumbered, since using them usually reduces your weight. If there are any that are missing please let us know!
  • A Scribe Pact containing Hellspawn can now be used while your character is dead. The ability to use it while alive has been removed since it never worked anyways.
  • Added Morality Inertia to make Morality a bit smarter. Characters with a large amount of Evil actions in the recent past will experience reductions in their morality gain when doing Good actions. Greater sums of Evil actions will result in greater reductions. Currently "the recent past" is a one-week rolling clock. "Evil actions" do not include "spending" actions such as Channel Virtue and Redeemed powers, nor is destroying doors counted because door morality is silly. Cutting power doesn’t count toward this total, but cutting generators does. Nexus Champions are not affected by Morality Inertia.
  • Removed soak from Lodestones of Balance and adjusted summon totals per summoner to Level/15. Summon cost is now 20 MP. These pets were made to be tough but in practice have been a bit too tough so they’re being tweaked a bit - their deep HP pool and high Defense should be enough. We can always adjust this in the future if it went too far or didn’t go far enough.
  • The XP-cap rolling clock has been adjusted to 22 hours instead of 24.
Quality of Life and Interface
  • A new Character Setting allows Prayer users (whether directly as a Shepherd or via Advocate Blessings) to block the Transcend Spellgem result if they don’t want it.
  • Heavy Items users will no longer see Font-construction items as options to pick up, unless the Font that composes them is destroyed.
  • NPCs will no longer appear in leaderboards.
  • Players will no longer get red text notifications about NPCs earning achievement badges. You will still see notifications for NPCs gaining Tier 3 classes or maximum level.
  • Font name length now caps out at 128, down from 256. Fonts that pushed the limits of the 256-character maximum were breaking the interface for users on some browsers.
Major Bugs
  • Resolved an issue that caused blank pet panes for characters who had only non-local pets like Netherworld Steles and Bone Guardians.
  • Fonts at 0 max MP should no longer be able to gain MP.
  • Fixed an issue that broke Holy Transfer.
  • Holy Champion Vengeance users were being blocked from actually using some Vengeance innates in combat.
  • Holy Champion cloak users were getting blocked from close-quarters attacks when they had combat cloaks on, even though that isn’t flying.
  • Fixed an issue where Channel Virtue was counting as a "Sinning" action instead of a "Spending" action, thus incorrectly setting off Harbinger powers.
  • Fixed an issue where every glyph type except Protection was barred on Portals. Instead, only Protection is supposed to be barred.
Minor Bugs
  • Frightened will no longer put you into negative MP.
  • Fixed an issue where Water Breathing potions sometimes still expired as if they were time-based.
  • Resolved an issue where characters who killed NPCs with Explosive Murder were told they could not do so due to being dead (when it was in fact the NPC who was dead).
  • Stepping of the World Gate now automatically disconnects from Fonts and Ley Lines instead of retaining the connection until the next move action.
  • Food and non-alcoholic beverage items with special eating/drinking messages should now work correctly. Some items that were generated before this fix will still have issues.
  • Fixed an issue where you could sacrifice potions indoors if the font was on a tile with an interior.
  • Way of Fast Hands now works with event weapons.
  • Fixed an issue where the built-in Nexal Return for Headless Horseman Pumpkin was not working with target shooting and door attack.
  • Allowed dropping of renamed superheavies, a niche situation that risked bricking some characters.
