Nexus Clash :: View topic - [Interface] QOL: Show name on hover
Okay, well, what about classes that wish to disguise, like the Fallen? At present, Mortals and Tier 2 characters can see through that disguise, clear as day. But that's an unfortunate accident. _________________ "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." And energizing? The extra step of hovering a mouse over each name seems like a waste of time compared to simply clicking and glancing at the energize menu.
I'm not sure how you think looking at the Energize menu will help. Yes, it will show names of casters, but since it doesn't show how many MP someone already has, it won't tell you *which* caster is the one with 5 MP remaining and which is the one with 45. And clicking to another screen means you have to go back and remember which one in order was which - a simple hover would solve that handily.
Or Saulres' solution.
It will help because it's set to the one you clicked on. Hopefully you clicked on the one who you saw needed energized and not someone else entirely. I'm not sure what part of this you're not getting. Hopefully a visual aid will help.
Special thanks to KOA for being the closest stronghold to where I happened to spawn. (Where else am I going to find that many people in 1 spot?) _________________
Well that video gives me an idea. Instead of putting the class after the name as I suggested (which is indeed cluttered), what about having it show somewhere when you click on the target? That way you see what the target is at the same time they're selected, so if you like it you can do what you wanted, and if you don't like it you can keep clicking through people until you find what you do want.
The key part being, you don't have to go to another screen and then back.
This doesn't solve the related problem of not knowing what your target is wearing (usually you don't want to attack someone with armor that protects against your damage type when there are squishier targets around) but from what I remember of the video of the new screens, there should be room for the full character description as well.
I'm glad you think that's acceptable. It should show up in all of your targeting dropdowns when you click on the target. That way you see what the target is at the same time they're selected and you don't have to go to another screen and then back. _________________

I am _pretty_ sure the devs are considering/have considered the old targeting pane that would contain class info, possibly some status info and whatnot when you clicked on someone:

Come to think of it, there was discussion to bring back the target tab, like we had in the olden days of NW (like, before 1.2). It basically gave a mini-profile of whoever you were selecting in the room.
Of course, this is from 2013, so the idea may or may not have been scrapped since then. I just thought I'd point out that this particular idea has been tabled previously _________________ For the Kin!

.... I never knew that. I never click on a person's name in my own SH; I just hover over their Mana to see what they're at, and then just look in the drop-down for their names.
Didn't read this thread past the first few replies, but what if
A toggle
Like, when I'm raiding I don't much care about people's names, hut when I'm just sitting around in my SH, I know my lads' classes so I'd rather see their names
So you could just toggle between Names, for roleplaying and passing shit around in your SH, Classes, for raiding (because names and classes in an SH would get really crowded really quickly) and Names/Classes for when you're hunting and you need to know who you're killing for the big fat emote. Also in a hunting setting it's less likely for you to stumble into a mass of 30 people and have your screen blown up by the characters here panel
might've been suggested before, I don't know. More choice is always good though _________________ IF WE LOOK AT ROME AND SEE OUR HOME, THE END IS ON ITS WAY
