With the exception of petra allow players to create planar guild factions. The planar guilds elder power determines what morality the faction is.

To make it viable have the member have a chance to become level 1 in that planar guild (maybe they need a high[ish] amount of orthodoxy, say 100)

This will let players RP a bit more if they want to.

Mortals can't join a planar guild. Would you make an exception for them, or would they be excluded from such factions?

Sounds like you're suggesting that Angels be allowed to form an Evil faction (in Gehenna), and Demons be allowed to form a Good faction (on Elysium). Is that your intent?

You can see it if you read the above part, but completely miss the word "guilds" following "planar" Embarassed

Sadly they would have to be excluded until they hit tier 2 and joined said guild.

Actually it sort of would have this implication due to: "The planar guilds elder power determines what morality the faction is." as only a few of the guilds actually have class specific restrictions.

Anyway, I think a better way to implement this sort of idea would be to create a new Stronghold upgrade: Shrine to <Elder Power>.

It would function as follows*: While Stronghold is up and faction karma exceeds <No. of members multiplied by [value]> all members of faction (who are also members of <Elder Power's Guild>) gain rank 1 bonuses in <Elder Power's guild>. All members of said faction who are not members of <Elder Power's Guild> gain only rank 3 bonuses for their chosen guild, regardless of faction karma. A faction can only have one shrine active at any one time.

*If faction karma and such is all going because of infusion going etc, this can could also work in a similar fashion with orthodoxy or whatever else decides guild bonuses next breath.

I meant the elder powers alignment, there are three for each morality type. For this to not massively nerf neutral factions I would say it would have to be only character types innately associated with that alignment.

Personally I find it weird that anyone can join some of the good and evil aligned guilds.

We're probably replacing the current Guilds with something more like the endgame Cults from Nexus War in Breath 5. As endgame-specific content, it probably won't be there at breath launch. Guilds as we know them did their job for what they did, but they likely won't be returning next breath.
