I wish there was a way to turn pet retaliation off if a member of your own faction attacks you. This would help during raids when you accidentally punch your lich buddy and for people using dark heart or trying to "borrow" a friend's pet. _________________ He-Man{6080} Spawn{6093} The Man In Black{6108} Michael Myers{6199} Alucard{6278} Whytemeet{6837} Nico Bolas{6980} The Dark One{7146} Batman{7310} Dralnu{7671} Yoda{9448} The Question{9618}
There's no retaliation when pets are passive but the point Whyte makes is about being able to have a setting preventing auto-retaliation against factionmates so he does not need to be around and switch passive/non-faction whenever some factionmate wants to DH him. _________________ With me, always.

Yeah, this. _________________ He-Man{6080} Spawn{6093} The Man In Black{6108} Michael Myers{6199} Alucard{6278} Whytemeet{6837} Nico Bolas{6980} The Dark One{7146} Batman{7310} Dralnu{7671} Yoda{9448} The Question{9618}
Add-on question: if this were implemented, could we do away entirely with a chunk of pet stances?
Passive is only really useful to prevent friendly retaliation, so it could go away.
Defensive is theoretically useful for things like LS chilling in Vaults to protect feral angels, and I like mixing a few in my general petshield as well.
Aggressive to Hostiles, Non-Allied, and Non-Faction all basically serve the purpose of "kill bad dudes". Non-Allied is the clear winner here (or would be if it worked correctly) since you can't protect yourself from ferals via Hostiles, and I can't imagine there's much reason to ever go to town on allies via Non-Faction.
If this were baked into standard pet behavior, we could probably get away with just a Defensive and Aggressive (to non-allied) stance, which is less complicated from both a player and coding/implementation standpoint.
Edited for better rule 7 compliance, I think/hope?

I'd appreciate this for the sake of people making AoE attacks. I had a Doom Howler last breath and I basically couldn't use Wail of the Dead when raiding, lest I get instagibbed by a factionmate's ghouls (never mind the fact that it does no damage to factionmates, it still pissed off their pets for some reason). While AoE targeting is something that needs fixing in general, this'd still help for those AoE attacks that target everyone, including people in your faction.
This discussion took a real quick turn into rule #7 teratory.
The pet code is too gobbldy-gook to mess with for 3.5. It's not smart to mess with it for 3.5. Discussions should be about 4.0 anyway, where the whole thing is re-written. I shouldn't be seeing comments talking about how spegetti the old 3.5 code is or talking about 3.5 bugs which will be patched out under the not-tertible 4.0 code. _________________

Also if you're Dark-hearting your faction petmaster, you're doing it wrong. They freaking need that MP a lot more than you. _________________

As Sparky said, this mostly refers to Corruptors with pets. Also, this is just one example of why pets retaliating on faction members is bad. I've seen many newish and experienced players accidentally attack their fellow petmaster in the heat of battle during a raid. As hilarious as this can be, if can also discourage new players. Someone also mentioned AOE attacks being pointless with a petmaster around.
Although, as Tek stated, this is code that cannot be changed/fixed anytime soon. _________________ He-Man{6080} Spawn{6093} The Man In Black{6108} Michael Myers{6199} Alucard{6278} Whytemeet{6837} Nico Bolas{6980} The Dark One{7146} Batman{7310} Dralnu{7671} Yoda{9448} The Question{9618}

Wyrm Masters dark heart Corruptors all the time. Corruptors have pets but don't need the MP much. :)
This. I was offering a WM to darkheart me until it dawned on me my pets would attack him.
Dunno if something like a "no retaliation vs faction-members" thing is doable or is included in those things that can't be changed yet. _________________ Tanks for everything.
